May anabolic steroids cause kidney failure in healthy users?

Anabolic steroids are often blamed for different health problems of users. Of course, these drugs may lead to certain adverse reactions. Nevertheless, steroids are often demonized without any reason. It is affirmed often by the media that these preparations cause different health problems, crimes, deaths. But it is important to understand nature of these drugs to see when these drugs should not be demonized.
Let analyze 2 situations. One of the cases is connected with the former American bodybuilder Flex Wheeler. Another case is linked with another former bodybuilder Luke Wood.
The former American bodybuilder Flex Wheeler suffered from kidney failure. This man submitted to a kidney transplant. Since he took steroids, the media chose to demonize these drugs for kidney dysfunctions of Flex Wheeler. Actually, Flex Wheeler had a hereditary kidney disease. Undoubtedly, administration of anabolic steroids contributed to the complications. But did Flex Wheeler administer steroids properly? Did he follow reasonable instructions related to dosages and duration of intake? No, he didn’t. Flex Wheeler applied very enhanced measures of steroids. Moreover, he took these preparations prolonged period of time. In addition to these conditions, the former American bodybuilder applied also other drugs which had negative influence on his kidneys. So, steroids should not be blamed for Flex Wheeler’s disease.
As it has been already noticed, another situation is connected with the former bodybuilder Luke Wood. His death followed after a kidney transplant, being a young man. The media also decided to blame steroids in this case. It was reported that steroids caused kidney dysfunctions in Luke Wood. But you should be informed that Luke Wood used not only steroids. He used also insulin, pain drugs, DNP and other medicines which influenced on the kidneys negatively. So, it is impossible to say that steroids were responsible for his kidney failure and death.
According to many experts, if steroids are administered properly, severe kidney dysfunctions don’t occur.
