Elevated hematocrit levels caused by steroid use

Tony Thompson, a boxer, states that steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs should be permitted in boxing. The sportsman thinks that anti-doping laws and gun laws are identical. Who doesn’t break gun laws? Only good guys do it. That’s why good guys are at a disadvantage. Thus, the similar situation is related to anti-doping rules. Just honest athletes don’t apply anabolic steroids and/or other doping products. Thus, they fight with those that have enhanced their performance with the help of steroids and other related preparations.
It is stated that anabolic steroids are not permitted in sports because they are dangerous. What would you say about boxing in itself? Isn’t boxing dangerous? The answer is evident.
But it is also claimed that it is needed to prohibit steroids and other related drugs in order to make boxing safer. Steroids and other doping products enhance performance. The more enhanced performance is, the more dangerous matches are. However it is true, would you ban anything which promotes performance of boxers? So, you prohibit steroids because they increase performance. Then prohibit trainings as well since they increase performance too! So, you will reduce performance while reducing possible risks. What do you think about this condition?
Tony Thompson also adds that detection tests are not efficacious at all. While numerous athletes use forbidden medications, only some of them are caught and sentenced to suspensions. Thus, dopers have unfair advantage over those who obey anti-doping rules. There is no logic.
Undoubtedly, arguments provided by Tony Thompson are reasonable. Anti-doping laws make rounds more unfair. Furthermore, the prohibition of doping doesn’t make fights safer. A lot of boxers continue to take steroids and/or other forbidden medications without being detected. They continue to fight and succeed with the help of doping, while honest guys are at a disadvantage because they keep anti-doping laws.
So, if doping is allowed in boxing, matches will be more honest. Undoubtedly, they will remain unsafe. But they will be at least honest.
Tony Thompson has been harshly criticized for his statements pro legalization of doping in boxing.

Will “steroid defense” work in case linked with murder committed by Oscar Pistorius?

Oscar Pistorius acknowledged that he had murdered his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. But the athlete underlined that he had killed her because he had mistaken her for a thief.
Police officers try to define why the Olympic athlete really murdered Reeva Steenkamp. They found anabolic steroids at the athlete’s home.
Since anabolic steroids have been discovered in Oscar’s bedroom, it would be probably argued that steroids caused uncontrolled aggression in the sportsman. Steroids would be blamed for the murder.
In fact, you should comprehend that it is quite hardly to state that anabolic steroids are responsible for aggression and violent behavior. Researches related to this issue are quite limited. According to results of several researches, users of steroids are predisposed to aggression, paranoia, jealousy, etc. It is claimed that those who use steroids are more likely to commit crimes than those who have nothing to do with these medications. But it is necessary to take in consideration that steroids may only contribute to aggression. Just these products alone can’t lead to aggression. They turn out to be only factors that contribute into uncontrolled aggression. Other factors should be also present for appearing of aggression. Circumstances play essential role in such situations. So, it is even impossible to define whether steroids cause aggression or certain circumstances. Violent cases should be reviewed as a complex of steroid use and circumstances.
It is also claimed by experts that enhanced levels of testosterone are connected with aggression in some persons. So, it is important to underline here that while certain persons with increased testosterone levels experience aggression, others with high testosterone levels are not predisposed to uncontrolled aggression. This effect differs from one person to another.
You can see that the link between intake of steroids and crimes is a complicated issue. Specialists have not studied this condition well enough to engage it. So, if defense lawyers of the Olympic athlete want to argue that anabolic steroids have made their client to murder his girlfriend, they should recognize that they are going to use controversial affirmations.

If you ban steroids, then ban herbs and potions too!

It is not necessary to subject sportspeople to tests for performance-enhancing substances. A lot of cases display that tests for banned products aren’t efficient. Furthermore, it is important to realize that application of tests by anti-doping agencies is illogical at Olympics. The main goal of Olympic athletes is following: to become faster, stronger and to be at the top level. So, why should you keep sportspersons far from drugs that could help them to achieve this result?
As you know, anabolic steroids and other related products boost performance. Thus, athletes should be allowed to use these remedies in order to boost physical performance.
A lot of individuals say that steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs make competitions unfair. Is this opinion true? No, it wrong. You should understand that tests for anabolic steroids and other related medications make competitions unfair. Many athletes use performance-enhancing drugs while avoiding detection. So, several sportspersons use anabolic steroids; others don’t violate anti-doping rules. As a result, dopers have unfair advantage over non-dopers. It’s unfair. Let all sportspersons have similar access to doping products. So, competitions will be fairer.
But discussing unfairness in sports, you should not forget about other aspects which have more essential impact of fairness/unfairness than anabolic steroids and other related medicines. Some athletes live in developed countries; others are in less developed countries. Certain sportspersons have money to get necessary equipment; others can’t afford it. Some countries can sponsor sportspersons, coaches, sport physicians and managers; others are not capable to do it. So, unfairness should be noticed here.
Olympic athletes spend much time while training. They sacrifice time, money, etc. That’s why it is illogical to ban those who are caught using anabolic steroids and other doping products.
While athletes are sentenced to suspensions for application of anabolic steroids and several other chemical substances, they are never suspended for application of herbs and certain potions. It is claimed that anabolic steroids and other chemical substances are suspended in sports because they can enhance athletic performance. But what is for herbs and potions? They are also capable to enhance strength. Nevertheless, these remedies are not forbidden in sports.  Chinese athletes use herbal remedies and win.
Of course, you may argue that steroids and certain other preparations may lead to grave negative consequences. Undoubtedly, several forbidden drugs may cause serious health problems. But those who plan to apply these medications do own research. They are aware of potential risks. Let sportspersons decide whether it is worthy to take such drugs. If they are ready to worsen health, let them do it because they should manage own bodies.

Doping will be ever in sports

What do you believe about legalization of doping in sports?  Some individuals believe that it is time to legalize it. Others don’t agree. What is your opinion?
Those who are against legalization of doping in sports think that steroids and other related drugs represent significant evil. They may cause severe negative reactions in users. Furthermore, a doper has unfair advantage over a non-doper during competitions.
According to another opinion, application of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs should be permitted in sports. Let sportspersons use whatever they want! If they want to administer anabolic steroids, let them do it! If they intend to use other medicines, let them do it! If they want to administer some medications, let doctors monitor their intake! Doctors know what their patients should do in order to prevent certain undesirable results. So, performance-enhancing drugs will not lead to severe undesirable reactions. As a result, administration of anabolic steroids and other related medications will be relatively safe for health and life of users.
As you know, anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs are currently forbidden in sports. When athletes are suspected and/or found guilty of doping, scandals appear. Such situations are often discussed during TV shows, in magazines, newspapers, on internet, etc. You must know that every scandal usually contains not only truth but also gossips, exaggerations, etc. As a result, you can’t be sure whether some affirmations are true or not.
Those that are against legalization of doping in sports claim that sportspersons enhance performance unnaturally with the help of anabolic steroids and other related products. Speaking about enhancement of athletic performance, you should not forget about enhancement of sexual performance, cognitive abilities, improvement of health, etc. Why do we use several products and supplements, improving our health and life, while demonizing athletes who try to promote performance with steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs? Is it fairly? You would note that anabolic steroids and some other performance-enhancing drugs lead to health problems. Yes, it is true. But what do you think about usage of caffeine and nicotine? They are accepted in the society. But it is important to note that caffeine and nicotine result in more serious health troubles than anabolic steroids and other related remedies. Nevertheless, consumers of caffeine and nicotine are not so harshly blamed, as consumers of steroids.
Anti-doping agencies think that they will soon eradicate doping from sports. “Competitions will be fair”, - they exclaim. But it is important to acknowledge that doping will be never eliminated from sports. Anti-doping officials will not be ever able to do it. While they elaborate new methods of detection and increase sanctions for administration of prohibited substances, sportspersons find new ways to avoid detection. So, everyone should understand that this “game” will never end, if doping is not allowed in sports.

Steroids and other related drugs are sold by anti-aging clinics illegally

Many anti-aging clinics are connected with doping scandals. It’s not surprisingly because they supply sportspersons and bodybuilders with steroids and other related medications. When proper authorities raid anti-aging clinics and confiscate medical records, they see that certain famous sport figures belong to clients of the clinics.
Lately some anti-aging clinics located in Miami were investigated. Federal agents found that the clinics sold prescription drugs illegally. The clinics sold preparations for enhancement of muscle mass, weight loss, increase of strength, etc.
According to the newspaper the Miami New Times, the anti-aging clinic Biogenesis was found guilty of illicit sale of doping products. Moreover, such famous baseball players, as Alex Rodriquez and Melky Cabrera bought doping products at Biogenesis of America. So, the anti-aging clinic appeared to be connected with one of the biggest steroid scandals in the sport of baseball.
Medical records of Biogenesis were taken from an employee of the clinic. The records were presented on the website of the newspaper Miami New Times. Journalists said that the employee who provided the records didn’t want to be identified.
It is reported that steroids, HGH, IGF-1 and other prescription preparations are widely offered for sale illegally by anti-aging clinics. Moreover, clinics hire doctors that provide fake prescriptions. Prescriptions for steroids and other related medicines are often given to clients without proper examination of their individual conditions. Furthermore, doctors provide prescriptions even without seeing their patients. In additions to these aspects, some corrupt doctors allow anti-aging clinics to utilize their prescription pads. So, anti-aging clinics sell anabolic steroids, painkillers and other prescription medicines illicitly, as if they worked legally.
When illegal activities of anti-aging clinics become evident, owners of clinics, physicians and certain employees are sentenced to several sanctions. Nonetheless, the risk to receive punishment doesn’t stop clinics from their illegal activities. However proper authorities try to eliminate illegal sale of prescription medications, their success is not yet essential.

Anti-doping officials will never be able to eradicate doping from sports

A lot of professional sportspersons obtained steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs from the Miami anti-aging clinic Biogenesis. The famous baseball stars Alex Rodriquez, Melky Cabrera and Bartolo Colon also belonged to persons that bought steroids at this clinic.
What is uncommon here? - Nothing. Steroids and other related preparations are widely administered in baseball and in other sports. Athletes buy these preparations at pharmacies, clinics, etc. Numerous anti-ageing clinics, drug manufacturers and other related establishments sell steroids and other doping products illegally. The Miami clinic Biogenesis is not the only clinic that is involved in illegal actions related to steroids and other prescription medicines. Athletes find different methods to buy steroids and other related medicines and apply them. However anti-doping officials try to eliminate doping from sports, their efforts are not successful.
Do you consider that anti-doping agencies don’t work enough well? Do you mean that they should establish more sophisticated drug testing systems? Do you think that they don’t do their job appropriately?
It is necessary to realize that no any drug testing program is capable to eradicate doping from sports totally. Athletes find certain ways to avoid detection. Doping is a part of sports. It exists from ancient time. Even ancient Greeks and Romans had certain ways to enhance their performance to win. Will sportspersons discontinue taking steroids and other doping products now?
Some sportspersons purchase undetectable preparations and administer them. Moreover, they hire experts that provide recommendations on usage of steroids and/or other performance-enhancing drugs. So, certain athletes have unfair advantage over others. Anti-doping agencies can’t change the situation. They are not capable to make sports “clean”. What is it needed to do under such circumstances? It is probably better to legalize doping in professional sports. So, anyone will be allowed to take whatever he/she wants. As a result, no any sportsperson will have unfair advantage over another.
But since anabolic steroids and other related drugs are prohibited in sports, sportspersons try to find methods to buy and take these products, avoiding detection. When it becomes obvious that certain athletes dope, scandals are reported.

Disputes linked with celebrated American cyclist’s testicular cancer

However the ashamed American cyclist Lance Armstrong has been already stripped of his 7 Tour de France titles and other awards, his steroid scandal is still widely discussed. Many indidivuals are still expressing their attitudes towards this case. Not only his possible usage of performance-enhancing drugs is debated but several persons also speak about Lance Armstrong’s testicular cancer. Why has Lance Armstrong experienced this health problem in his young years? What has caused this disease in him?
Whoopi Goldberg, a celebrated American actress is also implicated in discussions connected with Lance Armstrong’s doping scandal. While she has been mainly involved in discussions related to marijuana and other related drugs, now she has chosen to join those that fight against steroids and other related medicines.
According to Whoopi Goldberg, Lance Armstrong has got testicular cancer because of steroid use. The actress thinks that steroids are likely to lead to cancer. She argues that these medicines may promote appearing and developing cancer. Whoopi Goldberg thinks that experts should inform people about possible connections between anabolic steroids and cancer. The actress notices that experts can find out whether steroids have sickened Lance Armstrong.
But what do other prominent individuals consider about Lance Armstrong’s testicular cancer? Bob Weiner, a prominent political commentator, notes that anyone should be very careful while expressing suggestions that steroids are responsible for development of cancer. This man realizes that these drugs are demonized for numerous undesirable effects which are quite harmful for consumers’ health and even life. But he adds that it is unusual to demonize anabolic steroids for cancer. Such affirmations are serious. Bob Weiner believes that this issue has nothing to do with anti-doping morality.
Nonetheless, Bob Weiner is inclined to believe that Lance Armstrong’s testicular cancer has developed because of anabolic steroids. This disease usually doesn’t trouble young males. Why then has Lance Armstrong experienced it? Since scientific literature suggests that links between cancer and steroid use may exist, Bob Weiner doesn’t deny affirmations of Whoopi Goldberg.
But as it has been already mentioned, this issue is not included in those of anti-doping policies. Anti-doping officers focus on morality and they don’t care about protection of athletes’ health.

Rules on compounding pharmacies will be modified

The fungal meningitis outbreak that began in September last year had great impact on America. Contaminated injectable steroids were manufactured by the New England Compounding Center (based in Massachusetts) and given to many persons. As a result, over 400 individuals were contaminated with fungal meningitis in over 20 states. 39 individuals contaminated with this disease died. 14 deaths happened in Tennessee.
It became evident that it was necessary to do anything in order to prevent such cases. Contamination must not take place in future. The FDA had to meet with representatives of all states for discussion of this situation. So, recently a meeting took place in order to discuss ways related to prevention of contamination in the future.
It was noted during the meeting that new laws on compounding centers should be established.
Representatives of some states claimed that they did proper job in their states and no any person suffered from problems related to contamination. Moreover, they underlined critically that they were not aware of what occurred in other states.
When it comes to the FDA, its authority over such situations is limited. Federal court cases which were during past years depressed the authority of the FDA essentially. Furthermore, certain rules seem to be unclear.
Margaret Hamburg, the FDA Commissioner, offered to improve the situation through the following changes:
- to manage training of state regulators;
- to induce sharing information between the FDA and states;
- to dispose of ambiguity in laws.

These points seem to be rational. Such changes must help to promote improving public health of Americans. Of course, if rules contain ambiguity, no any agreement will be reached. That’s why new rules should be implemented and existing rules should be altered.
The FDA believes that state regulators will work together with it in order to prevent manufacturing and shipping contaminated medications.

It’s unfair to keep Roger Clemens out of Baseball Hall of Fame

Fans of baseball and many other persons seem to be anxious by results of voting for the Hall of Fame. Certain amazing players have not been elected for the Baseball Hall of Fame. It is not surprisingly that you also ask why they have not been elected. Under rules of voting, those that have manifested great baseball skills and contributed to their teams essentially should be elected. Undoubtedly, such baseball players, as Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro, Mark McGwire and certain other sportspersons have demonstrated splendid abilities and accomplishments while playing professionally. Why are they kept out of the Baseball Hall of Fame?
Numerous voters claim that they will never support those that have ever been linked to steroids and/or other performance-enhancing drugs. Dopers should get penalty. Future generations should understand that they will never really have success in sports, if they take doping products.
What would you do, if you were a voter? Would you support consumers of steroids?
In fact, voters never possess entire information about admitted and suspected dopers. You can’t prove that Roger Clemens has really taken doping products. A lot of persons have suspicions but there is no any steroid evidence. Why should voters refuse to support this baseball player? Are they sure that he has applied steroids and other banned remedies? –No, they aren’t. That’s why it is wrong to keep Roger Clemens out of the Baseball Hall of Fame only because of suspicions.
While several voters are ready to support suspected consumers of steroids, they claim that they will never vote for an admitted steroid user. However it seems to be right, let review the situation better! Have steroids played any substantial role in success of certain baseball player? For example, if even Roger Clemens has administered doping products, it is possible to convince anyone that he has had great success not because of steroids. Extraordinary achievements of this famous baseball player have been shown before his alleged steroid use. According to several affirmations, Roger Clemens has applied steroids since 1998 and then in 2000 and 2001.  But the most brilliant accomplishments have been done by him before 1998. Thus, nobody can state that anabolic steroids have helped Roger Clemens to succeed in professional baseball. That’s why he should be elected for the Hall of Fame.
Furthermore, why are a lot of persons inclined to blame only steroid users? Isn’t it the society that presses athletes to start using steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs?

среда, 23 января 2013 г.

What is Baseball Hall of Fame without Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds?

Such famous baseball players, as Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Mike Piazza, have not been introduced into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Is it fair? These athletes have achieved unbelievable results while playing baseball professionally. But it is claimed that there is no any place for consumers of steroids in the Hall of Fame.
So, some individuals believe that if steroid users are elected for the Hall of Fame, it will have negative impact for future generations. Young individuals should understand that successful baseball players are those that haven’t doped. Actually, it is nonsense. Barry Bonds, Mike Piazza and Roger Clemens are always considered to be the best baseball players. If even they are not introduced into the Hall of Fame, they will be always praised. These sportspersons have achieved splendid results. No one can doubt about their achievements.
Let think logically. For example, you see the most beautiful girl in the town. But she can’t win Miss of America. Does she lose its beauty? Do you stop admiring of her beauty just because she hasn’t acquired the title of Miss of America? Answers are obvious. The same case is with Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and Mike Piazza. They are brilliant players, regardless whether they will enter the Hall of Fame or not.
Barry Bonds got certain MVPs before he was linked to steroids. Roger Clemens became celebrated for his baseball skills before he was accused of doping. When it comes to Mike Piazza, nobody can contest that he is one of the best catchers.
It is claimed that the Baseball Hall of Fame is the place for the best baseball players that have ever played the game. Let suppose that Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Mike Piazza don’t belong to this category. Then we must create another category within the Baseball Hall of Fame. These players must enter the Hall of Fame. Otherwise, it loses its meaningfulness. Since the Hall of Fame is linked to greatness, it can’t exist without such excellent players, as Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Mike Piazza. Barry Bonds could make games exciting. He showed excellent baseball skills long before he was accused of doping. The same things may be said about Roger Clemens and Mike Piazza. The Hall of Fame loses its importance without these excellent players. That’s why it is important to consider these aspects and change the attitude towards these players and the Hall of Fame. Otherwise, the integrity of baseball will be destroyed.

There is difference between those that use steroids for athletic needs and those that take them for clinical purposes

Application of anabolic steroids for testosterone replacement therapy by sportspeople is a controversial issue. There are many debates linked with it. It is known by everyone that steroids and certain other related medications are forbidden in many sports organizations. But if a person should take these medications under instructions of his/her doctor for therapeutic purposes, he/she should receive a therapeutic use exemption. Although it is allowed to use even anabolic steroids for therapeutic needs, such athletes are frequently blamed and named “cheaters”. Actually, it is unfair.
What does Dana White, the UFC president, think about intake of steroids for testosterone replacement therapy? Does he blame fighters that use steroids in order to increase their reduced levels of testosterone? The UFC president states that any man with hypogonadism should administer steroids, if these products are recommended by his doctor. However it is fair, let note why several sportsmen have reduced levels of testosterone. It is proven scientifically that steroid abuse may cause suppression of natural testosterone secretion. Thus, several fighters and other athletes that have administered previously steroids for performance-enhancing effects may experience hypogonadism. Hence, their health care providers prescribe them applying some steroids in order to increase their testosterone levels.
According to Dana White, testosterone replacement therapy is legal for all individuals, including professional sportsmen. So, if any athlete has hypogonadism, he should be allowed to take steroids prescribed by his health care provider. He should get normal testosterone levels which characterize any healthy man of his age.
But Dana White makes it clear that any fighter or another sportsman that uses anabolic steroids and/or other forbidden medicines for athletic purposes must be suspended from competitions. It is necessary to make difference between those that apply steroids for medical purposes and those that desire to increase muscle mass and strength with the help these medicines. No one is allowed to take anabolic steroids for athletic purposes. It is banned in sports. Those that break anti-doping rules should be sanctioned. Sports must be drug-free.
It seems to be strange that statements of Dana White differ significantly from affirmations presented by anti-doping officials. As you know, words of some anti-doping officials for steroid users are much harsher than those pronounced by the UFC president.

Low number of college athletes is caught using steroids

A few college athletes are caught administering banned drugs. Does it mean that they don’t administer performance-enhancing drugs? Less than 1% of college football players have been caught violating anti-doping rules. They have tested positive for anabolic steroids and/or other performance-enhancing drugs. Such situation must convince anti-doping agencies that they win in the fight against doping. But certain suspicions arise. It is believed that numerous college football players use steroids and/or other related drugs but they avoid detection successfully.
Why do such suspicions arise? Changes in physique of college football players lead to controversial opinions. So, changes in body weight of more than 61,000 college football players were lately analyzed by the Associated Press. Results displayed that a lot of college football players enhanced their body mass in short period of time evidentially. More than 20 pounds were acquired by over 4,500 college football players during a year. Moreover, circa 100 persons enhanced the body weight by over 80 pounds during a year. As you see, the gains were obvious.
Certain experts assure that these aspects should not trouble anti-doping officers. They notice that anti-doping officials shouldn’t subject college football players to drug tests only because they have enhanced body mass essentially.
But other specialists have another point of view. However they agree that it is impossible to be sure that certain football players have administered steroids and/or other related drugs, basing only upon changes in body mass, they note that the changes may be a factor that causes suspicions connected with usage of steroids. So, such individuals that have increased body mass in short period of time should be subjected to steroid testing.
Some college athletes that enhanced body mass essentially in short period of time were asked about their changes. The sportspersons affirmed that they had never applied any forbidden drugs. They assured that they achieved such great changes naturally. The college athletes noticed that they had consumed much food for this purpose. Thus, they assured that such evident results were achieved by them because of suitable nutrition. According to them, it was not difficult to get many pounds in short period of time.

Freddie Roach’s method to eradicate doping from boxing

Freddie Roach is a famous American trainer in boxing. He coaches the famous boxer Manny Pacquiao. The trainer claims that he knows the best method to eradicate the problem of steroid use in boxing. According to this trainer, strength and conditioning coaches should be blamed for intake of anabolic steroids and other related medications in this sport. He affirms that they educate boxers to take performance-enhancing drugs. Thus, Freddie Roach affirms that it is needed to get rid of every strength and conditioning coach. It will lead to eliminating of steroid use from boxing.
What does Freddie Roach believe about essential changes that have occurred in physique and performance of the boxer Juan Manuel Marquez. In fact, there are different opinions about this athlete and essential changes in him. A lot of persons think that he has administered steroids which have induced these changes in him. When it comes to Freddie Roach, he supposes that Angel Guillermo Memo Heredia has provided anabolic steroids to Juan Manuel Marquez.
Memo Heredia is an admitted distributor of steroids. He acknowledged that he had provided steroids to numerous top athletes. Since he collaborated with prosecutors and revealed names of some sportspersons who used anabolic steroids, he was not charged with any crimes connected with distribution of anabolic steroids.
Thus, Freddie Roach thinks that strength and conditioning coaches like Memo Heredia should be pushed from boxing. It is the best method to eliminate administration of steroids and other related medicines from boxing.
It is interesting to mention that Manny Pacquiao, Freddie Roach’s client, has a strength coach too. Does it mean that this famous boxer uses steroids and/or other related medications? Freddie Roach believes that the strength coach Alex Arizo doesn’t supply Manny Pacquiao with steroids.
Alex Arizo and Memo Heredia are friends. So, Alex Arizo puts efforts to defend his friend, claiming that Freddie Roach’s accusations are not true. Actually, the trainer Freddie Roach says that he doesn’t like to pronounce any accusations related to intake of anabolic steroids and other related drugs. But he has to do it because this is the essence of boxing.
While Alex Arizo affirms that Memo Heredia doesn’t provide steroids to Marquez, Freddie Roach has own point of view. He continues to believe that Marquez is tainted. According to Freddie Roach, dramatic physical transformations of this athlete display that he administers steroids and/or other doping products.

Role of Lance Armstrong in doping is exaggerated in professional cycling

Although you probably don’t know anything about Scott Mercier, his affirmations linked with application of doping products in professional cyclist spread very quickly. This athlete belonged to the US Postal Cycling team before Lance Armstrong’s arrival. Certain statements of Scott Mercier revealed the truth that was hidden in cycling.
In fact, the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) made incorrect conclusions related to role of Lance Armstrong in doping. The famous American cyclist was accused and found guilty of application of banned drugs throughout his athletic career. While it may be true, the USADA claimed that Lance Armstrong induced doping in professional cycling. But these statements turned out to be wrong. Why? Which words were pronounced by Scott Mercier?
Scott Mercier said that their team doctor Pedro Celaya offered a special program for the US Postal Cycling team. He discussed about the program with each cyclist. The doctor affirmed that they had to ride 200-250 km per day. Furthermore, the doctor organized doping program that had to accompany workouts. So, he supplied US Postal Cycling team’s athletes with steroids, EPO and some other remedies.
These recommendations were offered by Pedro Celaya, when Lance Armstrong didn’t ride professionally. This athlete suffered from testicular cancer that time. There was no any doubt that Lance Armstrong would not be able to ride professionally. His cancer spread throughout his body, including brain. After this man experienced chemotherapy he tried to get recovery. Thus, Lance Armstrong didn’t have any relation to the team. He didn’t induce administering doping products in professional cycling. It became obvious that doping was established by Pedro Celaya before Lance Armstrong’s arrival.
During 1990s professional riders administered Andriol. Then they administered testosterone patches. Under guidelines of Pedro Celaya cyclists used the method of overdosing in order to avoid detection by anti-doping agencies.

How do police officers bust sports nutrition stores that sell steroids?

Sports nutrition stores offer for sale not only real nutrition supplements. They label steroidal substances as dietary supplements and sell them. But authorities put efforts to control and avoid sale of steroids as if they were just supplements. That’s why clerks of sports nutrition shops distribute steroids illegally. Those that come to such stores are often informed that they may purchase steroids as well.
But these factors are known not only by steroid users but also by police officers. So, law enforcements conduct undercover investigations in order to bust sports nutrition stores that offer steroids for sale. Clerks should know that if a client desires to purchase steroids, arranging a deal outside the shop, he must be an undercover police officer. That’s why those who are involved in illegal operations connected with sale of steroids should be quite cautious to avoid legal problems. Although they know about these aspects, they make typical mistakes that lead to arrests, charges and prison.
Let present a story about a clerk of the General Nutrition Centers (GNC) store located in East Walpole (Massachusetts). George Touma sold anabolic steroids along with nutrition supplements. When police officers were informed about illegal operations of this person, they began to conduct an investigation. The investigation lasted circa a month and was led by The Walpole Police Department.
An undercover agent came to the shop frequently and bought dietary supplements. He was talking to the clerk quite often. So, a friendly relation was established. Finally they discussed about steroids. The undercover agent said that he would like to buy steroids. So, he agreed to obtain 2 vials of steroids from George Touma. The officer had to give $300 for the medicines. The deal was arranged outside the store. After the purchase had taken place police officers arrested the clerk.
As a result, the clerk of the GNC was accused of illegal possession and sale of anabolic steroids.

Prosecution against Lance Armstrong

The USADA has publicized a report on the legendary cyclist Lance Armstrong.
Which impression do readers get, when they read this report? It is confirmed that a lot of individuals believe that each teammate of this legendary cyclist has applied steroids and/or other forbidden products. But is it true impression? Has each Lance Armstrong’s teammate doped?
According to the report on this sportsman, 11 teammates testified against him, confirming that he doped. Moreover, it was affirmed that Lance Armstrong and the most mates of his team applied sophisticated ways in order to be capable to dope and prevent detection.
However some Lance Armstrong’s teammates admitted to taking steroids and/or other related medicines, some teammates denied doping. For example, Julian Dean and Patrick Jonker were two teammates of the legendary cyclist that denied taking performance-enhancing drugs.
Julian Dean said that he neither doped, nor saw Lance Armstrong taking steroids and/or other related substances.
When it comes to Patrick Jonker, his statements were like those of Julian Dean. He said that he had never administered any forbidden substances. He stated that he competed cleanly and didn’t take any unfair advantage.
According to Patrick Jonker, usage of steroids and other related preparations is a serious problem in the sport of cycling. He believes that many cyclists dope. He confirms that it is important to fight against application of doping products in cycling. But he considers that appropriate methods should be utilized by anti-doping officers. This athlete is full of indignation, talking about prosecution related to Lance Armstrong.  Patrick Jonker thinks that murderers are less pursued than the 7-time Tour de France winner.

Non-medical usage of steroids should be eliminated

Timothy Armstrong of the World Health Organization says that anabolic steroids are dangerous for public health. While these preparations are often applied by sportspeople, bodybuilders and ordinary people for enhancement of muscles and strength, they may have negative impact on physical and mental health of consumers. Unluckily, dangers related to these medicines are not treated seriously. However numerous scientists warn that these preparations may produce severe adverse results, numerous people continue to use them for athletic needs.
Timothy Armstrong puts efforts to protect public health. He has presented a speech about steroid abuse at a conference organized by the chairman of the International Olympic Committee Arne Ljungqvist. Thus, Timothy Armstrong helps to eradicate illegal application of steroids.
As for Arne Ljungqvist, he put efforts in order to fight against application of steroids in sports. According to the chairman of the International Olympic Committee, application of steroids represents a moral problem. Those who administer doping products don’t compete fairly. They take unfair advantage over those who don’t apply these drugs. Thus, they act inappropriately.
Undoubtedly, Arne Ljungqvist is happy that Timothy Armstrong is also against intake of steroids. He affirms that anti-doping agencies should work with the World Health Organization more closely. The united efforts will be capable to eliminate usage of performance-enhancing drugs from professional sports.
Timothy Armstrong confirms that anti-doping agencies should have direct connections with law enforcements and customs officers. If they collaborate, their war on illicit deals linked with steroids and other controlled substances will be more efficient. They should inform each other about persons that have something to do with illicit drugs. Thus, they will have ability to achieve their goals.

Adolescents should know that steroids may cause irreversible side effects in them

Leslie Henderson cares about teenagers. She is troubled because many teenagers use anabolic steroids which may be dangerous for them. These products may make teenagers aggressive. Furthermore, steroids may affect different systems of consumers. According to Leslie Henderson, the most dangerous aspect related to usage of these preparations by teenagers is following: these medicines influence on the brain negatively. They destroy not only functions of the brain; they also change the way it acts.
Anabolic steroids have been introduced in order to treat certain illnesses. These medications are capable to induce development of secondary male features in boys with delayed puberty. They can prevent muscle loss in persons with HIV/AIDS and other health problems. But these preparations are also widely abused. They are used for increase of muscle mass and endurance. When physicians recommend taking steroids to cure certain diseases, they prescribe relatively low doses which don’t cause grave undesirable consequences. When these medicines are administered for performance-enhancing effects, quantities are high. But it is necessary to know that high dosages may cause grave negative results.
Non-therapeutic usage of steroids is very dangerous for teenagers. Their systems have not been yet developed. That’s why these preparations may cause irreversible changes in them. Steroids may affect their physical as well mental health of teenagers. As a result, unwanted reactions of steroids are manifested in them not only during adolescence but also when they grow up. If adult people abuse steroids, they usually don’t suffer from such prolonged grave side results, as teenagers experience. That’s why Leslie Henderson and other experts note that it is necessary to warn teenagers about negative influence of steroids on them. They should know about all potential dangers. If teenagers know about severe negative consequences of steroids, they will probably discontinue applying these drugs for improvement of appearance and performance.

Anna Watson refused to get modeling contract because he had to use steroids

When it is mentioned about cheerleaders, we imagine active and thin women. But we have to realize that sometimes the reality differs from our imagination. Anna Watson is an example in this situation. She has great muscles. But she is very beautiful.
A fitness modeling agency offered her a $75000 contract. But she didn’t agree to obtain it. Actually, it is surprisingly because numerous ladies desire to obtain such contracts. But she didn’t want to obtain it because she had to administer steroids for this purpose.
When Anna Watson began to study at Hawaii Pacific University, she started weight lifting. She trained intensively and consumed circa 3000 calorie daily. Finally she could lift 230 pounds. But her weight was not enough to get a modeling fitness contract. Although she ate much protein, she could not gain required pounds.
A modeling agent claimed that the steroid Anavar could help her to add weight. Anna Watson needed to get 50 pounds in order to get the contract. So, she began to apply the steroid Anavar in order to increase body mass. She was eating “forever”, even if she wasn’t’ hungry. Despites of her efforts, nutrition regimen and intake of the steroid Anavar, she was not able to add 50 pounds. The cheerleader added only 10 pounds.
Anna Watson practices Christianity. She belongs to a local church. Finally, she made a decision to ask a weight lifting champion for recommendations. Hugh Kirby that is also a member of the church has recommended her to stay far from steroid use. He mentioned that these drugs could lead to different negative consequences. This person also added that steroids could lead to infertility. So, Hugh Kirby claimed that it would be better to refuse the contract instead of experiencing health problems, especially infertility.
So, Anna Watson didn’t agree to get the contract. But she decided not to leave her trainings. Anna Watson dreams to become a personal trainer.
Actually, the cheerleader made an appropriate decision. It is reasonable to keep female features without a modeling contract instead of having the contract and experiencing effects of virilization owing to usage of steroids.

Steroid-using football players are not blamed so harshly, as baseball players

Numerous articles note about intake of steroids in baseball. Sportswriters and journalists describe steroid scandals which occur in this sport. It is frequently debated about steroid era in baseball. MLB players are required to submit to many drug tests. It seems that every individual interested in sports blames baseball players for application of performance-enhancing drugs. Do only baseball players take steroids and other related remedies? What do you think about football players? Don’t they dope? Why do we demonize just baseball players for administration of forbidden medications?
Doping is widespread among football players. Since 1960s administration of performance-enhancing drugs plays an essential role in this sport. It is impossible to imagine football without application of steroids and other related remedies.
Strength and size are substantial features in football. Several people think that football players possess great strength just because of hard trainings and appropriate nutrition. But it is wrong. Numerous football players administer prohibited products in order to gain strength and promote increasing muscle size.
As you see, intake of forbidden medicines is widespread in football. Nevertheless, baseball players are more harshly demonized for administration of steroids and other related medicines. Such baseball players, as Jose Canseco, Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds were subjected to public shame on account of doping. But such football players, as Lyle Alzado, Shawne Merriman, Chris Cooper and Thomas Romanowski, also took prohibited medications. Nevertheless, they were not so widely demonized, as dopers in baseball.
Furthermore, it is important to consider that intake of steroids is more dangerous in football.
It is suggested that football is unlikely to be cleaned from doping.
